Valley Friendship Club is committed to providing an environment that is safe, welcoming, respectful, caring and fun for all members, participants & volunteers. To ensure this commitment, we pledge to respect differences, to be welcoming and accepting of diversity and will promote inclusive practices and partnerships.
The success of Valley Friendship Club is dependent upon all members, participants and volunteers having a mutual understanding of our guiding principles and of the expectations required to provide these activities and to maintain our mission.
Valley Friendship Club and its members, participants & volunteers are guests in the facilities where we hold events. We are committed to uphold respect for our community partners by keeping their facilities in good condition, not allowing damage or destruction of property that is under our care.
MEMBER PARTICIPANT & VOLUNTEER EXPECTATIONS
- Individuals will be respectful of other’s personal space by keeping a comfortable personal distance – and by keeping hands to oneself.
- Greetings will be handshake or high-fives.
- All interactions between member participants and volunteers, both verbal and non- verbal, must remain respectful and non-threatening.
- Any use of language that is discriminatory, abusive, obscene, threatening, intimidating or degrading to others will not be tolerated.
- NO negative verbal or physical actions, whether intentional or unintended will be tolerated.
The following behaviors fall under the definition of those that require intervention by the individuals in charge of any particular event, and may result in loss of privileges or ability to attend activities sponsored by Valley Friendship Club.
- disregard for rules as outlined under these expectations or for any rules as outlined prior to any particular event
- behavior that is disruptive or that is disrespectful to any other participant or volunteer
- defiance of those in authority as it relates to any particular event or to the safety of any participant or volunteer
- invading any other individual’s personal space
- bullying, hitting, touching or using any other physical means against any participant or volunteer
- Behaviors that do not follow the principles outlined by the VFC board and are determined to compromise in any way the safety or well-being (either physical or emotional) of any individual participating in an activity sponsored by VFC
While it is the intention of VFC to work with parents and participants to remedy any potential for repeated problematic behavior, concern for the safety of all participants is paramount. Questionable conduct will be addressed by VFC and actions will be taken in the following fashion:
- Initial incident: Participant will receive a verbal warning
- Repeated incident: Participant’s parent/guardian will be contacted
- Continued incident: Participant will be asked to leave the specific event
- Ongoing incident: Participant will be suspended from events for a specified period of time
- Continued questionable behavior will result in individual being required to have a Parent/or other responsible Adult in attendance at all events OR may be prevented from participating in future events
